Sony’s long aspiration to become the number one camera supplier to the world, is getting nearer, it seems, according to a post on DPreview. Sony has announced that it has overtaken Nikon in worldwide DSLR market, in terms of revenue. This makes the Sony the #2 spot behind Canon.
Then again, Sony also announced that it had over taken Canon in the full frame camera supply in the USA so it could be a matter of time it became the number one. It is already the #1 in the compact camera scene.
Sony Knocks Nikon Off The #2 Porch In The Interchangeable Camera Market.
According to Sony's report, its interchangeable lens camera (ILC) market share increased from 19 percent in FY2017 to 23 percent in FY2018, moving them to second place behind Canon and ahead of Nikon. Meanwhile, its compact camera market share increased from 26 percent in FY2017 to 29 percent in FY2018, moving them to the number one spot globally.
