ClickJacking Google Chrome!

Security researcher Aditya Sood have discovered a flaw affecting Google's Chrome browser that exposes it to "clickjacking". ClickJacking is hard to trace in which an attacker hijacks a browser's functions by substituting a legitimate website link with attacker's links. The bug was disclosed at Insecure.org, bugtrack form.
According to the description, The Google chrome browser is vulnerable to clickjacking flaw.A
clickjacked page tricks a user into performing undesired actions by clicking on a concealed link. attackers can trick users into performing actions which the users never intended to do and there is no way of tracing such actions later, as the user was genuinely authenticated on the other page.

Bugtraq: Advisory: Google Chrome 1.0.154.43 ClickJacking Vulnerability.
"Attackers can trick users into performing actions which the users never intended to do and there is no way of tracing such actions later, as the user was genuinely authenticated on the other page," Sood said within the disclosure.
Google acknowledges this vulnerability and already working on it.

TorrentTV From Myka!

If you are a movie fan and a torrent guru (you do not have to be a guru to use torrents so everyone is a guru! in our books.), Rejoice because Myka has put together Mac Mini type box with torrent capabilities and is able to attach to your TV directly.
The Myka can connect to the internet via LAN or WiFi. For connecting to your entertainment system, it has HDMI, Composite, S-Video and SPDIF ports. Since you are downloading stuff, for storage your choices are 80, 160 or 500 GB drives with Linux OS configured with BitTorrent. You could also bring videos directly from your computer to the box.
Key features as listed on site;

  • WiFi enabled - 802.11/g
  • Direct ethernet connector for direct connection
  • HDMI, Composite, S-Video and SPDIF ports for maximum flexibility
  • Internal hard drive choice of 80, 160 or 500 gigabytes
  • BitTorrent peer to peer software built in
  • USB port for expansion
So give your computers a rest and fully utilize the internet connection (broadband I hope) the full use. And enjoy some movies at the same time.
This is going to cost you some where between $299-$459, a bit steep when you can get a desktop with quad core plus or minus $500, these days.
You can read more about and pre order one here.

Google Apps And City of Canton, Georgia

Camille Wehs, the IT director for the City of Canton, Georgia says she sleeps better these days! So waht was she doing before these good sleeping days? She was battling network demons, Spam, viruses and such things on cities IT infrastructure and supporting the entire city staff from her onewoman operation.
What has given her a peace of mind is that she wisely decided to let someone else have the burden of running the servers for her, and that someone is Google and she seem to be very content with her work. She has moved the
IT infrastructure to Google Apps.

She mentions that
her fellow city employees now have more functionality at hand than they did before, from anywhere. The applications in use are instant messaging, video, and site publishing tools in addition to the basics of email, calendar, and word processing/spreadsheets. Just the same we use at my work and my home, from the same provider, Google Apps that we wrote about in 2007.

Whats more is
Camille Wehs is having a webinar, to explain how and what she did to move her IT operations to Google Apps and to answer any questions that you may have. Following is the Webinar information. You can read more her guest blog post, on Google Enterprise Blog.

Use Google Analytics To Measure Your SEO Ranking

I was reading a post by Andre Scholten, that outlined a way to measure your own SEO ranking with Google Analytics. Most people with Google AdWords are able to measure exact placement of the keywords but the rest of us need to develop or find other methods.
So Andre set out to fulfill the task by creating a Google Analytics filter and I just tested it. Yes it works great. Previously I have done such thing was when I added Google Site Search Analysis to my Analytics profile.
The above link is to his Dutch language site but since then he has done a guest post on Yoast in English. So if you would like to test your own SEO ranking, head over to your Google Analytics account while having Andres post open on another tab!

Safe Web Practices With Googles "Browser Security Handbook"

Web Browsers, Firefox, Opra, Chrome, IE are part of our day to day lives now. We even look at our phones through tiny browsers and make sure that the new phone has one.
Some people fight for browsers and some make them, better, safer everyday. Developers and webmasters try hard to keep up with challenges of being compatible with all the browsers. There are lot of camps of browser alliances and I belong to a few of them! I use Chrome and Firefox most of the time.
But this is about safe web practices, with the help of Google security folks, who have written a handbook for general public, users and developers alike!. Thanks G.
"In hopes of helping to make the Web a safer place, we decided to release our Browser Security Handbook to the general public. This 60-page document provides a comprehensive comparison of a broad set of security features and characteristics in commonly used browsers, along with (hopefully) useful commentary and implementation tips for application developers who need to rely on these mechanisms, as well as engineering teams working on future browser-side security enhancements."
